The year was 1816 and the state of Indiana was entered into the Union.
The people migrating to the state gathered their most precious possessions and loaded there wagons.
The seekers of the new land traveled through dust and drought with faith and hope by their sides.
When they arrived in the newly admitted state, shelter had to be erected. Those shelters would later turn into log cabins with porches, animals and gardens close by.
Everyday lives started and the hard work of harvest, horseshoeing and carpentry began.
The women stayed home, tended to the home, the garden and the children.
And night, Bibles were read and prayers spoken.
My work is a tribute to the hard workers of Indiana and beyond.
Through crafting old-fashioned dolls, samplers and house decorations, I pay homepage to the days gone by.
